Probably the best retro classic release yet.

Somewhat lost in the hubbub surrounding this week's Game Developers Conference and all the news that came out of that, Sony quietly released the original WipEout for PSP via the PlayStation Store on Thursday.
Like other PSX to PSP releases before it, to get it you'll need an online-enabled PS3 to download the game, an USB cable to connect your PSP to the PS3, and of course the required amount of free space (in this case 393MB) on your Memory Stick Duo. Like other PSX re-releases before it, it also retails for $5.99.
When it was released in November of 1995, WipEout became an instant hit thanks to its insane speeds, polished gameplay, and soundtrack featuring electronica groups like Chemical Brothers. On a personal note, it's also the title that (along with the promise of Final Fantasy VII and other RPGs down the road) convinced me I needed to buy a PlayStation.
